Bruning Dairy - Rogers City - John Bruning was a dairy farmer listed in Belknap around 1889. The Bruning dairy was on 451, about 3 miles out of town, just outside hagensville rd. Originally it was John, then to his son, Hugo, then to his son Paul and now to Steve. Known in 1949 but bottles date from as early as the 1920's to the 50's.

Calcite Farms Dairy - Rogers City. 1920-28. Carl Bradley arrived in Rogers City around 1912 to work with Michigan Limestone. He was a businessman who always wanted to be a gentleman farmer, deciding to purchase a farm, building amazing facilities and purchasing high quality registered cattle from several states starting about 1920. Before long he had purchased hundreds of acres of farmland on the South side of Rogers City, near the current airport. His herd grew to one of the largest in the area, two local farmers were hired to manage the farm. The farms transferred to Michigan Limestone upon his unexpected passing in 1928. He own the Top cows on test in June 1925 DHIA. Mr. Paul Barrett is the manager July 2, 1925 and donated one pure bred Holstein heifer to the local 4-H club in order to improve the dairy genetics in the area. Forest Dairy - Onaway - 1912-1957
Owned by Roy V. & Christie Lyon & Sons (Sumner, Signor, Victor). Roy purchased his farm in 1902, starting with 160 acres. He had top quality Guernsey cattle soon after starting his dairy, with one of the top bulls in the state by 1915 and the incorporated the dairy in 1926. The farm is located in Forest Township of Cheboygan County, but the mailing address is Onaway. In 1925 he was milking 18 cows, building a herd to about 40. Forest Dairy provided milk to the Onaway schools in 1928 and did that free of charge for 2 years. In 1942, he supplied milk for the entire school year without charge as he supported the school in war times. Later the dairy was run as a partnership with the sons: C. Victor & Harriett Lyon, Sumner & Aza Lyon and Signer & Dorothy Lyon. The partnership grew to a 1600 Acre Farm located on Lyon Road, bought milk from 7-10 local farms to add to sales. Sold milk to Onaway, Black Lake, Millersburg, Atlanta, Tower, Afton and local schools. Sold out to Inverness in 1957. Hy-View Dairy - Onaway - Owned by A.V. Horrock (Alfred Van) 1895-1949. Dairy was near Black Lake, just past the airport. Known in 1930-50.

Karr Dairy - Onaway - When Mark S. Karr ended the Hy-View Dairy, he renamed his own dairy about 1950 as the Karr Dairy (after Mr. Horrock passed of the Hy-View Dairy).

Karsten's Farm Dairy - Rogers City - known in 1930- 1972 (glass bottles), (probably earlier). The dairy was located on M-68 west of Rogers City on "Radio Hill". Last glass bottle dated 1972, then delivered wax carton's for many years. Originally started by Adolph Karsten (1897-1987) and passed down to his children. Larry Karsten & his brothers Lewis & Walter were owners when they were a large dairy and delivery business far beyond Presque Isle county. Milk in round Qt. embossed & square 1/2 Pt., Pt.,Qt. and 1/2 Gallon blue pyro bottles.

Pioneer Dairy - Posen - 1940-50's
Owned by Harry & Lucille Nowicki, located at the corner of Haggensville & Lake Augusta Hwy in Posen. When state regulations became too cumbersome, Harry stopped shipping the milk to customers, but maintained his working farm. Milk in round Pt (unmarked) & square Qt. bottles - red pyro |

Presque Isle Dairy - Bottling factory was located in downtown Rogers City on Third Street, there was an early period around 1930, then again in 50's-60's.

Reisner Dairy - Rogers City Delivering milk from about 1925 - 1961. Farm was located about 1 1/2 miles west of Kelly's Venture Inn on US-23, just south of Rogers City. Adolph & Sara Reisner owned the farm. In the 50's they were milking about 40 cows with DeLaval Milkers. A son, Ralph (Duffy), was a milk peddler for the Reisner Dairy. A daughter, Ruth, married Anthony Reisner, moving to their own farm South on US-23 in '47. A grandson, Larry worked on the original farm from '51-60, many of Ruth's other 7 boys worked there as well. Another daughter, Ann, married Floyd Besaw, living in Lachine. They delivered milk in half pint wax cartons to Posen Schools and Lillian's Grocery.

Rogers City Milk Company - A. P. Richardson - known to deliver milk in 1920's, reported to sold his milk bottling business to Carl Bradley of the Calcite Farm Dairy in the early 20's. After Carl passed in 1928, the Rogers City Milk company again reopened by 1930.
